Internships
| The PGA Golf Management Internship Program at UNL provides students with practical learning experiences under the direct supervision of well-qualified golf industry personnel and the ongoing supervision and guidance of the Internship Coordinator, who is also a PGA member. Students must complete at least 16 months of full-time (40 hours per week) internships prior to completion of the PGA Golf Management program. Completion of PGMP 101 (Introduction to PGA Golf Management) is required before the first qualifying internship. The usual schedule is three months each after the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior years plus one semester (generally the fall of the senior year). These internships are to occur in at least three different types of settings. Example placements are private and public golf facilities, PGA section offices or headquarters, golf management companies, and golf associations such as golf superintendents or builders associations. Employment settings will be indoors, outdoors, or a combination. Activities might involve turf management on the golf course, working in the pro shop or in the clubhouse's food and beverage operation, assisting with a marketing campaign for an association or golf management company, or helping run tournaments and other events. The Intership Coordinator works closely with students to plan and evaluate each internship. UNL has agreements with many internship providers around the country, and will continue to add to the list as the program grows.
