Program Features
Internships
Students complete 16 months of full-time internships as part of the program. This immersive experience provides hands-on learning, exposure to premier facilities and opportunities to build a professional network within the golf industry.
Compete
PGA professionals are experts in both the game and the business of golf. Alongside business training, students compete in regular tournaments locally and across the country, representing themselves, the program and the university.
Campus Life
Students learn in a unique campus environment with access to four PGA instructors and a dedicated golf learning laboratory featuring the latest technology. This setting supports skill development, academic growth and a strong sense of community.
Notable Courses
Introduction to PGA Golf Management 3.0 (PGAM 101)
Each semester, students take PGA Golf Management courses that guide them through the PGA of America curriculum, covering interpersonal, business and playing aspects of golf.
PGA Golf Management 3.0 Level 1-B (PGAM 201)
Prepare your first portfolio submission for the PGA.
Plant Science (PLAS 131)
PGA professionals benefit from understanding all aspects of the industry, including turfgrass management and plant science fundamentals essential to course conditions.
Club Management (HRTM 475)
Hospitality plays a key role in golf operations. Students explore club management principles, including service, operations and member experience.
Business Law (BLAW 300)
Students gain a foundation in legal concepts that prepare them to manage and operate businesses within the golf industry.
PGM Internship (PGAM 495)
Students can earn up to 15 credit hours through internships, gaining real-world experience and building professional connections in the golf industry.
PGA Golf Management (PGAM 489)
This capstone course prepares students for graduation by exploring current industry topics and helping them earn additional certifications beyond PGA requirements.
PGA Golf Management Study Abroad (PGAM 496)
Students study golf history and experience the game on historic courses during a study abroad program in Scotland.

Outside the Classroom
Attend the world’s largest indoor golf trade show hosted by PGA of America in Florida. Build your network, land internships and see all the latest equipment and merchandise.
Study abroad in Scotland, the ancient home of golf, to learn about the history and culture surrounding the game. Take behind-the-scenes tours at places like the St. Andrews Links.
Take a study tour to Kansas City to meet with industry leaders and learn about golf and turfgrass operations. During the trip, students visit golf courses and professional sports fields.

Brad Goetsch, Assistant Professor of Practice
Brad provides advising in an official capacity as well as leads within the classroom. He engages in research projects with students focused on the golf industry and manages the program’s media outputs.
Academics & Experiential Learning
- Learn how to use TrackMan, force plates, fitting equipment, 3D motion analysis and more all while gaining certifications on each in PGAM 401.
- PGA work activities provide real hands-on experience with the information covered in classes, completing the circuit in the learning process.
Career Preparedness
- 16 months of internship experience prior to graduation provides a great background to prepare you to take on your first job after graduation.
- Your courses will equip you with real-world skills and experiences.
